Hi there everyone on the last day of 2010,
Tomorrow a new decade starts with tremendous potential for each one of our lives ready to be explored and realised.
But as usual it will come down to our choices. To be spiritually lazy or spiritually hungry and willing to do our part to see things come to pass that God has promised through his word, personal prophecy, prophecies over your ministry area, church etc. We like to make excuses but lets stop having excuses for our excuses in 2011 and see some dreams fulfilled and past disappointments turned into spiritual growth and inner enlargement.
The last few months have seen some wonderful times of ministry in our church including 30 Baptisms down at the Tamaki Estuary. This is an important foundation for God to build on (Hebrews 6) and an important part of becoming disciples. Baptisms are a measurement of how the Kingdom of God is being extended and not just shifting Christians from one church to another (transfer growth). May 2011 be a year of many, many Baptisms at Grace International indicating new believers that we are beginning to disciple.
We had a wonderful women's Conference called 'Her' which our women really prepared well for and there were good numbers and great appreciation for all that happened. Speakers included Ps Natasha, Ps Glenda and Ps Dariel Forlong from Melbourne who shared amazing messages that related to her own life that had experienced major physical challenges and the tragic loss of her and her husband's son at only 34 years of age.
Pastor Kevin Forlong (Dariel's husband) then shared some great messages on the Sunday following the Conference. He then followed these up with his 'Power of Focus' seminar / workshop on the Tuesday and Wednesday nights. This workshop was great value and something we have to keep following up to make sure what we learnt is implemented in our lives to achieve our goals and dreams.
On 7th December Ps RIchard Takapautolo, our Associate Pastor, led a team of 13 to Fiji for our annual HIM Fiji Youth Conference. Two of the team (Merekara and Laura) came from the Kawerau church that we have oversight of in relationship with Pastors Herewini and Puhi Pivac. We had great feedback from Ps Waqa (our Senior Leader in Fiji) and Ps Bob and Christine Holmes as to the excellent ministry of the word, moving of the Spirit and the enjoyment of all who went. Our young people shared powerful items and testimonies along with HIM Fijian youth doing wonderful items as well.
On Saturday 18th December we celebrated Rona and Kalfau's wedding here with 17 from Vanuatu (Kalfau's family) and 2 from the Solomons plus others who live in Auckland from the Solomon Island community supporting Rona. Pastor Ken and Helen (Rona'a Dad and Mum) were thrilled that Rona's grandmother and Aunty were able to come and be a part of festivities all the way from the Solomons. Pastor Berry (Kalfau's dad) was blessed as he enjoyed the wedding of his son and a few days of fellowship and ministry in our church. It was a great celebration of a godly young couple joining together to serve God in a God ordained marriage.
On the Sunday we had our end of year picnic inside this year due to heavy rain but still Baptised some people despite the rain and everyone in the water felt a supernatural warmth despite the conditions. After the lunch at church we then had our annual soccer game - the 'Old Wise Ones' verses the 'Young Strong Ones' - on our basketball court. This was the closest ever with the 'Old Wise Ones' just holding on to win 7 - 6 !!
We had an amazing Christmas Eve Service with great creativity from our multi-media team who presented a short film with a powerful a message concerning suicide and God's love for those feeling so desperate in their lives, great items from our Grace International Fijian group, from our Choir, 2 songs lead by Mi'i and our worship team, a tremendous original song from Sonny (Eseta's brother) about the birth of Jesus which he will use as signature song for the CD he is working on. We had 2 readings by 2 of our young women (Heu and Millie) and a guitar solo by Jimmy Hetaraka a young 13 year old with obvious talent and love for music.
During October I personally had the privelege of spending 4 weeks in South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya and Nigeria where I worked with African and Kiwi people who were making a huge difference in the lives of many African people, communities and nations.
I am looking forward to all that God has for us as a church in 2011 with our expanding vision into Panmure, the nations and our networking with other like minded churches and ministries.
May you see the fulfiment of more of His promises for your lives this coming year. Lets make the right choices and grow spiritually in our relationship with and service for Jesus.
Love and Blessings - Ps Graham and Glenda Davison
